Whether you are an emerging professional, volunteer, or veteran in the cultural heritage world, this meeting is for you.

A virtual meeting of the Collaborative is coming up on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 10:00 AM to Noon.

Please join us online for a presentation by Michele W. Johnson, Executive Director of Maryland 250, a commission dedicated to commemorating diverse aspects of American life and culture in honor of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. Ms. Johnson will talk about how museums, libraries and archives across Maryland can receive the Commission’s support for telling their communities’ stories, including grant opportunities that are forthcoming. There will be a lot of attention to telling inclusive stories that will inspire the younger generations.

To learn more about the Maryland 250 Commission’s role to “develop, encourage, and execute an inclusive yearlong statewide celebration and commemoration in 2026 that acknowledges our successes, reckons with our setbacks, offers deepened understanding of our complex history, strengthened public appreciation for service to our nation, and heightened public engagement in civic life,” follow this link: https://planning.maryland.gov/Pages/md250.aspx

Your co-hosts for this virtual meeting are the MHCC’s Continuity team, Maria Day, the director of Special Collections & Conservation at the Maryland State Archives, and my colleague, Joni Floyd, curator of Maryland & Historical Collections, University of Maryland at College Park.
