The Maryland History and Culture Collaborative is an informal gathering of individuals from throughout the state of Maryland whose personal and professional interests include the acquisition, preservation, management of and public access to collections and sites related to Maryland history and culture. The mission of this group is to facilitate collaboration and communication in order to better serve both our institutions and our researchers. Most importantly, the Collaborative has helped to create a feeling of camaraderie among professionals across the state and has opened the lines of communication between institutions of all types and sizes.

Originally conceived at the University of Maryland, College Park, the Collaborative has met several times in different forms since 2006. Currently, the group meets twice a year, in the spring and fall. In the spirit of collaboration, two member institutions volunteer to co-host each meeting. These meetings are an opportunity to highlight projects, discuss challenges, statewide initiatives, and form collaborations.

Members communicate via an email reflector list (mdhcc@googlegroups.com) and this website. Members represent a range of organizations, including academic institutions, public libraries, museums, cultural heritage centers, and historical societies.
